Review: 1028 Hydrating Lip and Eye Makeup Remover

We are back after a long day and all we want is to quickly remove all the make-up on the face and jump onto the bed ZZZZZZZZzzzzz. A very simple and humble request, but hit the wall when it comes to eye makeup removal because most of the eye products used are water and smudge-proof, not easy to come off without a good removal. 

I've been using the Hydrating Lip and Eye Makeup Remover by 1028 Visual Therapy for a month now, I will say that I am really impress with the result. My eye makeup is easily removed in seconds, effective and quick, just to my liking. 

You may know that I am already a fan of 1028 Visual Therapy, they have a lot other good products at reasonable pricetags. I have previously wrote a product review for their Big Eyes! Magnifier Mascara and Waterproof Extreme Eyeliner pen, you may be interested to check them out too!

The removal comes in a handy plastic bottle, a great choice for holiday and overnight when we have limited bag size. Although it's a small bottle (75ml), it can lasts for quite a while because a bean size of removal is already sufficient to clean up 1 side of the eye. 

The removal is made of a gentle formula of pH7.5 equivalent to a Tear drop. It not only removes waterproof make up easily but also contains highly concentrated butylene glycol providing intense moisture boost to the skin, leaving the skin fresh and subtle. The main product ingredients are Hexylene Glycol, Licorice Extract, Green Tea Extract - everything good for our skin!

Most of my eye cosmetics are waterproof =D 

I no longer has to keep rubbing my eye lids, trying so hard to wipe away the makeup, and risk losing my precious eye lashes. On a side note, constantly rubbing of eyelids is not good too, because it stretches the skin around the eye too much and results in winkles and saggy eyes.

Antman the Movie

Just caught the movie "Antman', yet another creation by Marvel last week.

I am truly a fan of these Superheros movies, and my greatest hero is no other than Spiderman! I am always upset that Spiderman is not consider as one of the Avengers, but still I think he is just great in his stand alone movies.

Anyway, I was a little skeptical before I watched the movie, because I totally haven heard of 'Antman'. I thought it's a new 'Man' created by Marvel, it was only after the movie when I asked my dearest friend Google and found out this is a classic hero character as well. So just how many heroes does Marvel has?

  
Anyway, I find this movie quite nice. Marvel's Superhero movies are not just about fighting, their scripts are always very fine written with a touch of humble and funny characters. I was laughing quite a lot throughout this movie.

Antman is actually a Suit, so any commoners wearing this suit will inherit the superpower of an Antman, but of cause with proper training to control the powers.
So this story is about this Suit inverted by an old Scientist long ago, but he decided not to reveal this technology to the public because it's a threat to the whole world if this piece of technology is not put into proper use. This scientist owned a well known technology firm and he has a very smart student as his assistant. But ended up this smart student was trying to steal the Antman technology but failed, and managed to chase the old scientist out of the company.

So the real story starts when many years later this student managed to create a similar 'Antman' technology and he is up to no good. So the old scientist and his daughter decided to steal this technology so as to prevent the end of world or something. So they need a Man to wear the Antman suit that the scientist invented, become the Antman and steal the technology. Yup you're right, in the end the Antman managed to steal the technology and saved the world.

Although I find this movie nice, I am still very much freak out during many parts of the movie. Because Antman has the power to communicate with ants, so expect a lot of ants scenes! It really itches my whole body all the way up to the tip of my scalp. omg!!!! I must stop recalling now....

Especially those red ants~~~~~ arggggggggggg

I will give this movie a 4/5 popcorn, I will recommend people who has a thing for super heroes to go for this movie. Not a very amazing plot or twisted storyline, but it's still a good catch.

New Instagram Username

You may be aware or unaware, I have recently changed my Instagram Username from @woshijes to @JESTINOVA. Because I have friends who told me that its complicated to have my blog name JESTINOVA and instagram as WOSHIJES.

So to keep things simple, I will have my Instagram username changed to @jestinova.

On a sidenote, what is WOSHIJES? It's actually inspired from one of my friends, which means 我是 JES (I am Jes).

Lost at Mak's Noodle

Yes, Mak's Noodle is the very famous and claims to be the nicest Wanton Noodle in Hong Kong, and it has finally opened its very first outlet in Singapore, Centrepoint.

I haven tried the one at Hong Kong, but I heard from friends that the Wanton is damn fresh. How to miss out the one in Singapore?

So me and a few friends arranged to meet up dinner at Mak's Noodle, we had 7 people so we waited like 30min. The place is quite small with not alot of tables. The queue was very long as expected, but lucky the people leave quite fast thus the queue was constantly moving.  

All the 7 of us has not tried the original one in Hong Kong, so we didn't know what to expect. Upon seated down, we started looking around at the food people ordered. The menu is very straight forward consisting 3 food types: Dry noodle, soup noodle and side dishes. Not wanting to crack the brain too much, all of us ordered either the dry or the soup wanton noodle. We didn't order any side dishes because the variety is not great.

Food served, and all of us gave the same 2 reactions.  

One: So small portion
Two: Not even a single thread of vege


I have to put a disclaimer that the followings are all me and my friends' comments after the meal. We are not trying to pin point on anything and we understand clearly that the taste of food is subjective to individual.

The noodle is indeed as mentioned, Springy and QQ. The dry noodle comes with the oyster sauce then you will mix them up for extra taste. I personally ordered this, to be frank, I am not impress at all.

One: My noodle is very salty, I think the chef poured the entire bowl of oyster sauce into my noodle. I kept pouring in my soup to dilute the noodle but still didn't seem to help. So you can imagine how much the chef 'hated' me.

Two: The noodle taste is quite strong. My friend gave this comment because I cannot taste anything else except my oyster sauce.

Three: I understand this is HK style, but I am still upset that my noodle don't come with a piece of kailan

Four: The wantons are quite nice but not great. Actually a few of us came to a conclusion that it tastes like the frozen wantons by CP. I feel so guilty pointing this out but that's our honest feedback.
Then my friend made a twist by admitting that CP actually made too nice frozen wanton, so their wantons are similar by chance. =S

Five: $7.90 is not very expensive because it's really famous, but I just don't find it worthy. 

Next, the soup noodle.

Yup, that's all. My first reaction to my friend when I first saw this noodle was: "Where is your wanton?" The wantons are actually hiding underneath the noodle. 

This bowl of noodle is actually smaller than my palm, quite a small portion. They serves the same small portion in HK as well, because they want to prevent the noodle from turning soggy. The shop focuses a lot more on quality than quantity. Same to the dry noodle, the portion is as small. 

One: Not very tasty, not much taste.  (Maybe they can add some oyster sauce in)

Two: The noodle taste is quite quite strong.

Three: $6.90 for this, hmmmmm, not worthy as well.

We finished quite fast and left. Where to? Elsewhere for food because stomach not filling.

Heartland treasure - Khongdon Korean BBQ!

I am a fan of korean 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal) - the  popular korean BBQ that goes perfect match with fatty pork belly and chilled beer!

My first Samgyeopsal was 5-6 years back during my exchange programme to Seoul in my University days, I was hooked since the first bite. As kpop gains its popularity, Korean dishes are very common available everywhere now. 

When I mention Samygeopsal, I think most people will be  familiar with 2D1N Soju Bang and Super Star K at Tanjong Pagar, however the queues are always long, and they can get quite pricey too. 

I would like to share an alternative place I usually go for Korean BBQ, I find their food good enough with the affordable price tag. - KKONGDON Korean BBQ

Kkongdon serves BBQ and other ala carte Korean dishes like stew and hotpot, I usually go for their BBQ buffet, with free flow of meat and side dishes.

They serves 7 kinds of meat - Spicy / Non-spicy Chicken, Pork and Beef and Chicken bugolgi. I don't really take their beef because they serve steaks, but I only like the thin slice beef. Personally, I like the bugolgi best. 

Side dishes are self service. 

I totally love kimchi although most of the time I don't take spicy

Their meat per portion is quite small, but it doesn't matter because I had buffet so you can keep on getting the meat and their staffs are very friendly to assist you. 

Yea! and my favourite golden mushroom. Free flow too!

They use the  BBQ stone plate. The staffs will constantly change the tracing paper for you too.

Ventilation is quite nicely done up, so you won't feel too hot or smelly like pork after that. 

It's a great place for couples and big groups. Located at the edge of Ang Mo Kio Central, I guess most people are unaware of this hidden heartland gem, thus there is often no queue. It's nearby the MRT too, very accessible.

For about $30 per pax for a meat buffet during the weekend, it's very worthy especially for the hungry men =)

Hello again! I have previously shared about the 1028 Visual Therapy Waterproof Extreme Eyeliner Pen here. Today I am going to share with you another great product by 1028 - the BIG EYES! MAGNIFIER MASCARA.

Having long and thick lashes are the trick to bigger eyes, that's how the trend to lash extension starts. If you think that extension is expensive, you can choose between fake lashes or Mascara. For me, the choice has always been Mascara, because its the easiest and I am a lazy bum.

I am so sick of turning into a panda by mid day! I hate it when mascara smudged and forming the layer of black underneath the eyes. My request for a good mascara is easy - Waterproof and Smudge-resistant,

I am really pleased to find the New Love of my life: the BIG EYES! MAGNIFIER MASCARA

This mascara is both water and smudge-resistant, I have used this mascara during my trip to Bangkok last June, and it lasted me throughout the day despite the scorching temperature of 35 degree, Fyi, I am also using the Extreme gel pencil liner from 1028, review here.

In addition to water and smudge-resistant, this mascara wings up my lashes like a butterfly.
Without any other eye make-up, totally bare, I only applied the mascara to my left eye and you can see an obvious result.

Now let's wing up both eyes!

The mascara is also very lightweight, so it can keep the curl longer. Some mascara can be pretty thick and heavy, so it actually weigh down the lashes after a while, losing the curls. 

Another thing I love about this mascara is the Brush!
The brush is rare to find in the market. It's a double rotating brush that can create 8 times volume effect. So not only does it make our lashes longer, it also thicken it at the same time!

The brush has a cone-like shape, thinner at the top and fatter at the bottom. The thinner tip makes application at the 2 eye corners and lower lashes much much easier, while the fatter bottom can works on the center lashes creating the nice curls. The brush is dense enough and works like a comb, that can comb through every single lashes from the roots to the tips, missing no one out.

This mascara also contains Vitamin B5 that is capable to repair our daily lash damages while strengthening the lashes.

From Sweet to Glamorous

Hello dearies!
Just imagine you have to work or school in the day and you have a party at night, but you have no time to go back home and prepare. It is impossible to pack your entire make-up collection into your bag, and anyway you won't have time to re-do your make-up too. What should you do?

Today I am going to share with you how to transform yourself from a sweetie pie in the day, to a glamorous party queen for the night in 5 min. This post is inspired by my favourite beauty guru, Bubzbeauty.

The main tool I will be using is a basic 4 shades eye shadow palette No. 3 from 1028.

I am using my 5 points eye make-up guide here to create the 2 looks. Yes! I only need 4 shades.


Ok Here we go!
I have done my base make-up and I will move on to my eye makeup.

1. Eye Primer - To keep the eye make-up more lasting
I am using Proof 10 eye primer from Etude House

2. Apply the neutral brown colour at the outter eyelid.

3 Apply the pearly eye shadow at the inner eyelid. I applied this after the outer eyelid because I don't want the brown to overpower this nice pearly shade.

4. Using a Copper brown gel pencil liner, I created a shadow to enlarge my eye at my outer lower lash line, and I smudged it using the convenience built-in smudge tip. I am using the Extreme Waterproof Eyeliner Pen from 1028, you can catch my review on this amazing product here.

5. Using the same gel pencil liner, draw your regular eye liner.

6. Create the innocent pair of eyes by highlighting the inner corner of your eyes. I am using a golden shimming eye shadow.

7. Almost there! Winged your lashes with your favourite mascara and I am using the Big Eyes! Magnifier mascara from 1028. Very lightweight and long lasting!

8. Blushes! Don't forget this!

9. Last but not least, the lips. I noticed a lot of ladies actually missed this out because the lips colour wear off easily and its troublesome to keep on touching up. But the colour of your lips actually help bring out the blush of our complexion, looking more fresh and alive.

For this look, I created a soft gradient on my lips by tabbing a sweet pink lip stick only on the center of my lips, then blending the sides off with a nude lip gloss.

And yea! We got it! That's my final result:

Alright, lets now get ready for the party at night!
Your 5 min starts now! I am going to add on to the makeup I had for the day, just touch up with some loose powder and we are ready to go.

1. Used the darker brown eye shadow, apply to the entire eye lid, Go light at the inner lid, concentrate on the outer lid.

Switch to a brush with a sharper tip
- Because the area at the inner lid is smaller, use a smaller brush like I did.
- Sharpen the end tip to make the look more elegant
- Extend the colour at the upper lid, and join to the lower lash line. The brown we applied for the day will blend well with the upper lid to create a soft cat eye.

2. Use the golden shimming eye shadow, highlight the brow bone

3. Darken and extend the eye liner. I am using Bobbi Brown potted gel eye liner Black.

4. Apply something red for the lips. It's wide and Sexy time!

And we got the final look!
